Over the centuries, a great many of opera adaptations have been created based on the four great classical novels of ancient China: Water Margin, Journey to the West, Dream of the Red Mansion and The Romance of Three Kingdoms. The first three novels had their opera adaptations published  decades ago; however, despite being the one adapted and performed the most, there were no complete opera collection for The Romance of Three Kingdoms until this day.
