On the morning of the New Year's Day, the centenary celebration is initiated by a firing of a starting-pistol right under Shanghai Oriental Pearl TV Tower when thousands of Fudan students and staffs participate in the New Year's Day marathon and the match of running up to the top of the Tower.
During this spring time, construction projects to coincide with the centenary are completed one after another, and an exhibition is mounted featuring the university's achievements in various aspects over the past one hundred years. Under the bright spring sunshine, or otherwise amid the beautiful spring wind and rain, a range of high-profile symposia and academic summits are held on the campuses, which is very much a vivid portrait of letting a hundred flower blossom and a hundred schools contend in the most suitable season.
