)Professor Zhang assumed the director of Chinese Language Department
from 1983 to 1985, afterwards he assumed the supervisor of the ancient
book compiling institute. Devoting himself to the research on Chinese
archaic literature and coordinating ancient books, he has compiled
poetry in Ming dynasty, codex novels, modern novels, series of
translations on literary history masterpieces together with other
specialists since 1985.Owing to his distinguished contributions, he
was appraised the title of the chief professor and prominent professor
by Fudan University in 1996.
