Fudan-Lucent Technologies Bell Lab

Fudan University and Lucent Technologies Inc. signed an agreement to co-establish Fudan-Lucent Technologies Bell Lab.

According to the agreement, the School of Information Science and Technology of Fudan and Bell Labs will start researches on the advanced application of communications and computer science based on the joint laboratory. Edge-cutting projects such as modern mobile communications, fiber communications, and comprehensive network management are included.

Cisco Network Technology School

Fudan University and Cisco Systems, Inc. co-established the first Cisco Network Technology School in China in 1998, investing 300,000 USD into the new educational institution. In 2001, the project was upgraded to CCNP-CATC, covering the training of teachers in China. The School imparts to the students an overall knowledge of advanced network technology and helps them to enhance their practical skills to apply the technology.

Sino-Japan Distance Education Project

From 1998 to 2003, Fudan University and Toshiba cooperated in completing the Sino-Japan Distance Education Project, which was initiated by the governments of China and Japan. Toshiba provided the technological support; the Network & Information Center of Fudan and Northeast University implemented the plans. With the help of Aoyama Gakuin University of Japan, a preliminary system was set up. The investment totals 50 million yen, which is about 2.4 million RMB.

Distance Education Project based on the Global Knowledge Network

On April 22nd, 2002, the Sino-Japan contract signing ceremony for the Distance Education Project based on the Global Knowledge Network was held at Fudan University.

For the first time, a Chinese university was involved in the Global Classroom Project initiated by the prestigious universities of the United States, Japan, Russia and the United Kingdom. The companies pay and invite eminent foreign scholars to Fudan to lecture in order to strengthen the ties between Fudan and the international academic community.
