A book on the solutions to social problems that emerged because of the COVID-19 pandemic was published by Fudan University on Wednesday.

Titled Crisis Management and Social Governance, the book contains eleven articles by scholars from the School of Social Development and Public Policy of the university.

The book is divided into three chapters — crisis management, governance at grassroots level and system building of social governance.

The articles delve into topics such as psychological assistance for people who lost their family members, the professionalism of social organizations in containing the epidemic, and the development of the elderly care industry in the post-pandemic era.

Jiao Yang, Party chief of the university, said many of the articles were adapted from policy suggestions for the government.

"Some suggestions deal with the current situation and some suggest a long-term approach. The book provides Chinese experience of social governance in light of the pandemic," she said.
