Leading expert on COVID-19 publishes new book

The book 2019 Coronavirus Disease: From Basic to Clinical Practice by Fudan doctor Zhang Wenhong will be available in late March.

“By self-quarantine, you are helping fight the virus.” “Two weeks of feeling suffocatedlocking yourself at home will also suffocate the virus.” “Beware of your colleagues (avoid close contact at the work place).” Amid this epidemic, Fudan doctor Zhang Wenhong’s straightforward style of speech has gone viral on Chinese social platforms.

As the leader of the Shanghai team of experts in treating COVID-19 cases and director of the Department of Infectious Diseases at Fudan-Huashan Hospital, Zhang has been working unremittingly on the frontline of COVID-19 since the outbreak, doing everything he can to popularize protective measures and boost the public’s confidence.

His new book, 2019 Coronavirus Disease: From Basic to Clinical Practiceis to be published as an ebook late in March, followed by the paperback version published by Fudan University Press.

The target readers of the forthcoming book are medical professionals. It elaborates on the practices adopted at home and abroad, including disease treatment, drug development, glucocorticoid administration, the use of high-flow nasal cannula and non-invasive ventilation, the use of invasive ventilators and extracorporeal life support, etc. The new book will summarize all up-to-date research on COVID-19 and serve as a useful reference for the ongoing virus control across the globe.


Professor Zhang Wenhong’s Advice on COVID-19 Prevention and Control and its Persian translation


His previous publication, Professor Zhang Wenhong’s Advice on COVID-19 Prevention and Control, is also available on the Internet for free. It has so far been downloaded 1.6 million times and 800,000 hard copies have been given away to Wuhan residents. The book has already been translated into Persian to help the people in Iran better understand the virus. It can now be downloaded through portals provided by Iranian health departments. Also on the way are translations in English, Russian, Uzbek, Thai and Vietnamese, some of which will be published within March.
