On March 2, Fudan President Xu Ningsheng reported on the achievements under the “double first-class” plan approved by China's Leading Group for Comprehensively Deepening Reform in 2016 as a new impetus for the development of China's higher education sector. Jiao Yang, Party Secretary of Fudan, also made an address in the meeting.
President Xu introduced the objectives, tasks and requirements of “double first-class” plan and laid out the general schemes and specific arrangements of Fudan to carry out the plan. He pointed out that Fudan should have foresights and sets objectives of high quality and standards, and that the University should endeavor to achieve practical results and implement key program by freeing the minds and quicken the pace to perfect the University’s general schemes.
Party Chief Jiao remarked that the “double first-class” plan was aimed to advance the future development of China. Fudan should shoulder the responsibility for the nation to build a world-class university and world-class disciplines. She encouraged party organizations at all levels to emphasize student-oriented education and moral education so as to involve everyone at Fudan to strive for the plan.
Academicians of China Academy of Sciences and China Academy of Engineering, members of the Academic Committee, distinguished professors and scholars, members of the “1000 Talents Plan” and other near 400 middle-level officials at Fudan attended the meeting.
