Fudan, China Daily ink agreement to pursue higher-quality cooperation

Fudan University signed a new strategic cooperation framework agreement with China Daily, the country’s leading English-language media group, via a video link on July 6.


Qu Yingpu, publisher and editor-in-chief of China Daily, said the two parties share the same mission and responsibility to tell China’s story, to show the world a true, multidimensional and panoramic China, and to cultivate international communication professionals in the new era. The strong partnership will generate greater synergy to improve international communication and contribute to the high-quality development of higher education.


Jiao Yang, chair of Fudan University Council, stressed the university will deepen strategic cooperation with China Daily, and give full play to the advantages of both parties to make new contributions to the high-quality development of global communication. She hoped the two parties will strengthen collaborations in theoretical research and between think tanks, cultivate good understanding of both China’s national conditions and global values in international communication majors, and forge a better platform to tell the story of China to the world.


Qiu Xin, executive deputy chair of Fudan University Council, and Zhu Baoxia, editorial board member and secretary-general of China Daily, signed the agreement on behalf of the university and the media group in Shanghai and Beijing respectively. Chen Zhimin, vice president of Fudan University, presided over the ceremony.


The signing ceremony was also attended by Zeng Qingkai, editor-in-chief of 21st Century, Yu Yilei, editor-in-chief of China Daily Shanghai Branch, and department chiefs of China Daily and Fudan University.


Over the past years, Fudan University has maintained close cooperation with China Daily. Since 2014, the two parties have carried out three rounds of strategic cooperation, and this was the fourth time a cooperation agreement had been signed.


According to the agreement, the two parties will deepen collaborations in brand communication, personnel training and scientific research, giving better play to their respective advantages and making greater contributions to improving international exchanges.
