With the country’s development, there is a huge demand for Chinese legal talents with global vision and strong capability in international arbitration. Back in 2017, 8 teams from 6 universities took part in the 1st Invitational Moot Arbitration Competition for Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao Students. This year, the competition has not only had more participants, but also become more challenging. The contestants will only be allowed to use English throughout the competition.

The competition will simulate the arbitration process of international commercial cases. The participating teams will act as lawyers representing the applicant and the respondent in the cases. During the competition, the contestants’ professional knowledge and practical skills in dispute resolution will be assessed. The competition will conducted in two stages: legal writing (online) and court debate (offline). The top 16 contestants in the first stage will move onto the second stage.

By pooling the resources of the government, universities and enterprises and collaborating with the top law firms and legal service institutions in Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao, Fudan University, as the host of the competition, hopes to deepen the contestants’ understanding of the constitution, citizenship, patriotism and democracy and the rule of law.
