Helmut Rakowitsch, consul general of Austria in Shanghai visited Fudan University on December 13.
President JIN Li of Fudan University extended a warm welcome to Rakowitsch and Alexandra Wagner, vice consul for Education and Science. Jin introduced the history and development of Fudan University, and spoke highly of the cooperation between Fudan University and the partners in Austria, hoping to strengthen the ties between the two sides in more fields in the future. He also expressed his gratitude to the Consulate General of Austria in Shanghai for its help and support over the past years.
Rakowitsch said that the Consulate General of Austria in Shanghai will make more efforts to support Fudan in conducting student and faculty exchanges with Austrian universities and research institutions.
CHEN Zhimin, vice president of Fudan University, said Fudan and the University of Vienna signed the strategic partnership agreement and student exchange agreement in 2019, which opened a new chapter of cooperation and exchange between the two universities.
SHEN Chong from the Department of German Language and Literature summarized the cooperation between the Department and Austrian universities. Taking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Austria as an opportunity, Shen hopes more activities can be carried out with the Austrian Center at Fudan University to promote Sino-Austrian exchanges and cooperation.
ZHANG Shuangli from the School of Philosophy introduced the cooperation with the University of Vienna and the University of Graz, as well as the workshop jointly held with the Department of Art History, University of Vienna in 2019.
LU Shuai from the School of Mathematical Sciences expressed the wishes to carry out the academic mobility programme with the University of Vienna based on the strategic partnership framework.
Wagner recalled her working experience at the Austrian Center and thanked Fudan for the continuous support. She will keep promoting the cooperation between Fudan and Austria universities in various aspects. LU Li’an, director of Office of Global Partnerships also attended the meeting.
Rakowitsch visited the Austrian Center at Fudan University after the meeting. Carlos Peter Reinelt, new director of the Austrian Center, introduced the development of the Center.
