Professor Huang Youyi shares translation experience with Fudan students

On April 19, 2017, Professor Huang Youyi, Vice President of Translators Association of China, gave a speech entitled Language, Knowledge, Practice and the Right to Discourse: How to Be a Qualified Translator in a Globalized World? at Fudan. Professor Lu Li’an, Vice Dean of College of Foreign Languages and Literatures, hosted the event.

Professor Huang, graduating from Beijing Foreign Studies University, served as Vice President of China International Publishing Group and Translation Association of China. In the lecture, he shared his first-hand experience in translation and diplomatic interpretation with the students, including preparation of translational tasks, different roles of a translator, ways of dealing with emergencies in interpretation, qualities of a good translator, etc. He also stressed the importance of conveying China’s voice through translation in the ear of globalization.
