Chancellor Emeritus of WashU visits Fudan

On September 20, President of Fudan University Jin Li met with Mark S. Wrighton, chancellor emeritus of Washington University in St. Louis on Fudan’s Fenglin Campus. The two sides reached consensus on deepening exchanges and cooperation in fields including public health, biomedicine and social sciences.

Wrighton said Washington University in St. Louis and Fudan University have carried out extensive cooperation and achieved fruitful results over the years. At present, the world is facing various challenges, especially in the fields of public health and medical care. The two sides should join hands to deepen exchanges and collaboration, especially in public health, biomedicine, social sciences, energy and environment, strengthen the application of cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, thus making more contributions to the well-being of people around the world. Wrighton hoped to work harder to promote the exchanges and cooperation between the universities of the two countries, believing that the two sides will make greater progress through collaboration.

Jin said Prof. Wrighton is a most valued old friend to Fudan. During Wrighton’s term as chancellor of WashU, the two universities have developed extensive and deep cooperation in various forms. In the current circumstance, the two sides shall work even harder to revitalize people-to-people exchanges, and promote educational cooperation between Chinese and American universities. Jin appreciates Wrighton’s continuing support for advancing US-China educational exchanges and enhancing mutual understanding between American and Chinese people, hoping that he will continue to support and facilitate the cooperation between our two universities.
