On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan, a delegation from Fudan University, comprising representatives from the International Students Office, the School of Computing and Artificial Intelligence, the School of Journalism, the Institute of International Studies, and the Institute of Modern Physics, visited Pakistan to conduct educational exchange and admissions promotion activities.

From May 18 to 20, the delegation visited the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan and the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Pakistan, engaging in in-depth discussions on deepening China-Pakistan higher education cooperation, Pakistani students' studies in China, and teacher training. The delegation held talks with HEC Chairman Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar to promote substantive exchanges and cooperation.

During their stay in Islamabad, the delegation also visited Quaid-i-Azam University, met with its Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal, and held a Study at Fudan admissions promotion session. The delegation also had exchanges with nearly 30 faculty and department representatives from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) and visited the university's science and technology innovation park. In addition, the delegation visited the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, where Cultural Counselor Chen Peng welcomed the delegation and expressed the hope that Fudan University, as a top Chinese university, would play a greater role in cooperation with Pakistan.

At the admissions promotion session at NUST, Director Su Kui and representatives from various schools and departments gave detailed introductions to Fudan University's internationalization strategy, its strong academic disciplines, English-taught graduate programs, and international student admissions and scholarship policies. The delegation engaged in lively discussions with Pakistani faculty and students on topics such as collaborative research innovation, faculty exchange, and student exchange, with special emphasis on Fudan's Belt and Road Pioneer Program for Pakistani students, which received an enthusiastic response.

Professor Zhang Jiegen, Director of Fudan's Pakistan Study Center, led in-depth dialogues with Pakistani scholars on topics including the high-quality development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), regional security dynamics, and think tank cooperation mechanisms. Professor Ye Guangnan from the School of Computing and Artificial Intelligence and Professor Cai Laizhong from the Institute of Modern Physics held detailed exchanges with faculty and students on Fudan's talent cultivation programs in artificial intelligence and nuclear physics, respectively.

During their visit to Lahore, the delegation held an admissions promotion session at Beaconhouse National University (BNU), met with its Vice-Chancellor Dr. Moeed Yusuf, and conducted academic exchange activities with more than 20 department heads from five universities, including LUMS and UMT. The delegation also visited the National School of Public Policy (NSPP) of Pakistan to exchange views on public policy talent cultivation and civil servant training. The delegation further exchanged views with Deputy Consul General Cao Ke of the Chinese Consulate General in Lahore on educational and research cooperation between Fudan and universities in Lahore.

The delegation held special screenings of the documentary film The Moon is Yours at Quaid-i-Azam University and Beaconhouse National University. The Fudan-produced documentary attracted over 200 university students at the two screenings. According to Xia Tianyi, Deputy Dean of the School of Journalism, under the guidance of the Shanghai Municipal Information Office, the School of Journalism at Fudan spent three years producing the film, with over 100 Fudan students participating in filming and post-production. In 2025, The Moon is Yours received the Golden Seagull Recommendation Award in the International Communication category at the 4th Chinese Documentary Film Festival.

Tayyaba, a first-year master's student in mathematics at Quaid-i-Azam University, said after attending the presentation and watching the film that this wonderful documentary authentically portrays the study and life of international students at Fudan, sparking Pakistani students' interest in studying in China. Fudan University is one of China's most renowned and internationalized higher education institutions. More and more Pakistani students are eager to go to China to study and contribute to Pakistan-China cooperation with their youthful energy, Tayyaba said.

Dr. Salman Ali Bittani, Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Quaid-i-Azam University, noted that Fudan's documentary presents a splendid Study in China story. Its premiere in Pakistan has achieved good results, helping to strengthen cultural and educational cooperation between Pakistan and China.

In addition, the delegation met with Fudan alumni in Islamabad, extending warm regards to alumni groups working abroad, including Chinese journalists stationed in Pakistan, Chinese employees in management and technical roles at Chinese enterprises such as Huawei, and Pakistani alumni who are playing important roles in local governments, universities, and enterprises. The delegation updated the alumni on Fudan's recent developments and encouraged them to continue serving as people-to-people ambassadors for China-Pakistan friendship, contributing Fudan's strength to promoting bilateral educational cooperation and cultural exchange.

This visit not only consolidated the cooperative friendship between Fudan University and Pakistani government agencies and renowned universities but also vividly and authentically presented the Fudan campus to outstanding young Pakistani students through face-to-face admissions promotion activities. This has laid a solid foundation for attracting more high-quality international students in the future and advancing China-Pakistan educational cooperation in depth and substance.
