On September 18, Mari-Leena Talvitie, Finland’s Minister of Science and Culture, accompanied by Joonas Heiskanen, Consul General of Finland in Shanghai, led a delegation to Fudan University, where she met with JIN Li, President of Fudan University, and ZHOU Lei, Vice President of Fudan University.
During the visit, Minister Talvitie toured the Nordic Centre at Fudan University and was briefed on its work by Programme Manager Veli-Matti Palomäki. In an open exchange session, leaders from Finnish universities and relevant Fudan schools and departments held in-depth discussions on key topics including the development of the Nordic Centre, China-Finland university cooperation, expansion of research collaboration, and joint talent cultivation. The session was moderated by Professor LU Li’an, Director of the Office of Global Partnerships at Fudan University.
Established in 1995, the Nordic Centre at Fudan University was jointly founded by Fudan University and Nordic universities. Today, it brings together 23 member institutions from China and the Nordic countries, serving as an important platform for academic exchange and cooperation.
For more than three decades, the Nordic Centre at Fudan University has carried out academic seminars, course training, faculty and student exchanges, and international academic conferences in areas of shared interest, promoting educational, research, and cultural exchange between Chinese and Nordic universities. At present, the Centre has five Finnish member universities: the University of Helsinki, the University of Turku, the University of Eastern Finland, Tampere University, and the University of Lapland.
